Practical Tips to Stay Safe this New Year’s Eve
Everyone wants to have fun and enjoy New Year’s Eve, but it’s also essential to stay safe and avoid personal injury. When you’re out celebrating New Year’s this 2019/2020, remember that your safety and the safety of those around you need to be a top priority.
Here are a Few Tips to Help You Ring in the New Year
Designate one person to be the “driver” for the night so no one is tempted (or able) to drink and drive. If one individual isn’t willing to avoid drinking so they can drive everyone home, call one of the ride-sharing services to pick you up.
Avoid High Traffic Times:
If possible, avoid being in your car out on the road from 8 pm-2 am. This is the time that claims a significant portion of our accidents involving some alcohol consumption.
Pay Attention to Alcohol Intake:
When drinking, make sure you stay hydrated (with water) and that you have enough to eat to avoid getting sick.
Use Caution Sharing on Social Media:
You’ve heard it before, and you’ll hear it again – be careful what you share on social media. If you have a problem posting things you later regret while out for the night, request that a friend hold your phone or delete your social media apps temporarily for your night out.
Consider Your Pets:
If you’ve been thinking about microchipping your pets, the holidays are an excellent time to do so. The potential for fireworks means keeping your animals inside and making sure that anyone that brought fireworks considers what is appropriate for your group and your location. A homeowner can be held liable both criminally and civilly for damage done by fireworks.
